Facts Of the Day #12

1. Not much has happened today, so I'm struggling to come up with facts.
2. Today on the way back from chapel (my school has chapel once a week) I saw a collage of pictures from Camp Langano in the lobby of the church.  Camp Langano is where I went this summer in Ethiopia, so I recognized a lot of the people on the collage.  I miss them!
3. Outfit of the day news:  I had a brilliant idea on the ride home today!  I like doing outfit of the day videos, but I can't really put one up every single day on YouTube because I have to upload other videos.  I really only like to put up one video a day, at least on YouTube, to spread them out.  So, here's my idea.  (and I will implement it whether you like it or not!) I will film outfit of the day videos fairly often (or at least as often as I wear an outfit I love/am not wearing an outfit I've already shown) and only show them on the blog.  Which means they'll be privated, so you can't get to them through my YouTube channel.  You'll only see them on my blog posts.  I think I'll keep them on my Facts Of the Day posts, instead of having them as separate posts.
4. Without further ado, here is my outfit of the day:

5. My mom tried to make brown sugar shortbread cookies.  They were kind of a fail, but they still taste good!
yay for the awk face :)

6. The end

New Effie Trinket look!

I found this picture on hungergamestrilogy.net, and I think it would make a really great tutorial!  I'm going to try it out and maybe do a tutorial.

Effie Trinket nail tutorial

I totally should have cleaned up my nails before I showed them off at the beginning of the video (and someone told me that in the comments of my video, haha)  But I wiped off all of the nail polish completely without even thinking of that!  I was intending to do my Katniss nails next :)  Which I did.  And I'm also out of nail polish remover...I definitely need to get some more of that, since I've discovered my love of doing nail tutorials.  Do you all like nail tutorials?  I hope they are helpful!  I try not to use any fancy nail tools (for one thing, I have no fancy nail tools).  Seriously, toothpicks, dull pencils, and makeup sponges are really all you need for pretty nail looks.  (Although I wouldn't mind trying out a Konad).  But back to the point of this post...here are Effie Trinket's nails!

Facts of the Day #11

1. I'm uploading my Effie Trinket nail tutorial as we speak.  (Unless you are reading this blog post in 2017.   In that case, it was uploaded ages ago...)
2. I'm also editing my Katniss nail tutorial!  I'm very pleased with the way my nails turned out for this look.  I think you'll like it, because I've gotten several compliments on it.  I don't want to ruin the surprise with a picture right now.  Buuut I'll put up a preview picture the day before I upload the tutorial.  (Which should be sometime later in the week)
3. I found this great new app in the App Store!  It's a free yoga app (although I'm considering buying the full app) and I really like it so far.
The free version is called Yoga and the full version is called All-in Yoga.  The full version is $5.99.  (It says that's only a promotional price for 3 days, but it's been that way for over a week.  So have no fear, you  can try out the free version for a while without rushing to buy the full version.  As far as I can tell, you get more workouts with the full version, as well as breathing exercises.  In both apps, you can create your own exercises, but those exercises don't tell you when to change poses.  Anyhoo, I think it's quite a nice way to do yoga!
4. The giveaway is a reality now!  I ordered some stuff last night (so I now have nearly everything I will be giving away) and I just can't wait.  I really love getting to talk with some people here on the blog and on YouTube, so this is a great way to thank you all.  Try to guess what the theme is.  (It's not very exciting, it's actually kind of boring.  But it lets you know that there are some really great products in it!)

P.S. I think I use way too many exclamation marks! <------ (exhibit A)  I  think that if you copied down everything I said in a day, there would be plenty of exclamation marks.  I get excited soooo easily :)  Is it too much on the blog, or is it fine?  Let me know and I can try to tone it down! <------------------ (exhibit B)

Facts of the Day #10

1. First day back to school after my break...
2. I finished my homework already, so now I have time to work on editing some videos!
3. I've got several videos to edit and put up: 2 more from Disney, 3 Hunger Games videos, and one hair tutorial.  Should I finish putting up the Disney videos, or should I put up a Hunger Games video first?  Maybe I'll put up all the Disney videos today, and then put up the Hunger Games videos on Tues-Thurs.  Also, if you have any requests for videos, let me know!  There's only so many tutorials you can do on hair and makeup from the Hunger Games :)
4. I GOT MY HUNGER GAMES TICKETS TODAY!  (well, technically I got them last Wednesday, when they came out.  A friend going to the premier with me bought my ticket for me since I was out of town.  But she gave me the print out today!
5. Ps. Can you tell that I'm obsessed with the Hunger Games?
6. I wore a new eyeliner from wet'n'wild today.  It's a green pencil one that I think might be discontinued, but as far as I know there's still plenty of it in stores.  I'll probably show it off in a haul video soon!
7. I'm thinking of maybe possibly doing a giveaway soon...if you have any suggestions, let me know.  I'm thinking of giving away some of my favorite drugstore products (ha, almost typed strugstore).  I'd probably do it on my youtube channel.  Maaybe do a separate (small) one on the blog.  I'm just thinking out loud though!  My dad is actually the one who suggested it, and I was like 'ha, didn't even know you knew what that was...'
6. Sorry for the lame post without any pictures, but I'll be doing some video previews soon!

I'll be filming more tutorials tomorrow, so be on the lookout for more posts :)

Effie Trinket Makeup Tutorial

Ack! Apparently you can't unprivate videos on an iPad. That was my plan for uploading videos this week. (uploading all my videos before I left, privating them, and then unprivating them throughout the week. So I'm working on it :)

Ta-ta for now!

Well, today I'm off to Disney World!  Don't worry though, I've got a couple of Hunger Games tutorials in queue that will be up during the week.  I'm quite excited about them!  I might possibly be able to do a couple of short blog posts as updates during the week, but we'll see :)
I shall leave you with a (low quality) preview of a nail tutorial I will do soon...and you can guess what it's for :)

Facts of the Day #9

1. I'm packing for Disney World!

2. So far, everything I've packed is blue...
3. I'm really excited for Disney World!  (just in case you haven't noticed)

4. I filmed some Hunger Games tutorials, and here's a pic from them:

5. I'm having game night with my friends tonight :)  Have you ever heard of Bezzer Wizzer?  That's one of the games we'll be playing.  (It's a trivia game)

6. I've already packed my makeup for the trip! (everything but my brushes).  Maybe I'll try to do a video on it.  It will have to be a webcam video, because I don't have enough time to charge my camera again today...

The end :)

Milani Powder Bronzer in Light

This bronzer has a beautimous flower design on it!

truer to color picture of the bronzer
 heavy blended swatch
 Heavy swatch, blended swatch
As you can see, this bronzer is pretty pigmented.  It's a little powdery if you use a lot of it, but it's not too bad.  There's a tiny bit of sparkle to this otherwise matte bronzer, but it's not very noticeable.
I'll have to update this post with pictures once I try it out on my face!

Guess Who?

Effie Trinket! I'll have videos up soon :)

Milani Blushes: Soft Rose, Luminous, Sunset Beach

I got these blushes on clearance for about $2 at CVS.  I don't know if that means they are discontinuing the blushes or if they were just clearing out the Milani displays for new products.  Either way, you might want to check out your CVS to see if you can get some of these, because they're quite nice!
First up:  Sweet Rose

 ingredients

It's a matte color, very pretty and creates a nice soft flush on the cheeks.

 Swatch on my finger
 hand swatch
left: heavy swatch, right: blended swatch
As you can see, it's very soft once blended out.  At least on me, it looks brighter on my cheeks than it does blended on my hand.
As I mentioned in my haul video, I think this blush is a pretty good dupe for the Too Faced blush Cocoa Rose.
 L-R: Cocoa Rose, Soft Rose
As you can see, the Milani blush is a little darker, and the Too Faced blush is a little less pink.  However, I still think they are pretty great dupes for eachother!

Next up: Luminous
Luminous, in my opinion, can be used as a blush and a highlighter (if you apply it lightly).  The golden sheen this blush provides is beautiful!

Very lightly applied, as a highlighter
 finger swatch
 heavier swatch, blended swatch
 light peachy pink!
I haven't used this blush on my cheeks yet, but from what I can tell, this will be a perfect glowy blush.  It leans a little peachy because of the gold sheen.

Sunset Beach

I'd say this blush leans a tad more reddish than the pictures show.  It's also matte, with no sparkle whatsoever.

 Heavy swatch, blended swatch
This is a very very pigmented blush.  I'm almost scared to put it on my cheeks!  I think with a light hand, it will make a pretty tan summer flush.  I think it can also be used for contouring...
Overall, I think these are some pretty nice blushes!  They aren't powdery, they apply smoothly, and they are quite pigmented.  Of course 'luminous' isn't the most pigmented, but what blush called 'lumnious' would be?

E.L.F Studio Blush in Pink Passion

This blush retails for $3 at Target.  (or online here)  It's quite a bright pink!
I haven't used it on my cheeks yet, so I can't do a review on it.  But for now, here are some pictures!

teeny tiny label on the back

This picture doesn't quite show how bright the blush is.
This picture shows the brightness a little better, but the blush isn't this peachy.
 Swatches!

 Heavy swatch, blended

Texture: It's a matte blush with the tiniest bit of sparkle.  If you look closely at the pictures of the blush in the pan, you might be able to see a few flecks of glitter.  It's really sparse, so it doesn't show up on your cheeks.  It's also a little bit powdery, but it's so pigmented that you can pretty much disregard that.
